Those present at our first meeting of the year were treated to an entertaining and informative presentation by Steve Christo, a former staff Sports Photographer with the Sydney Morning Herald who now works freelance. Who would have thought a sports photographer would ever be given the assignment of going to a race meeting and with the brief to photograph anything but the horses? It was interesting to hear how much things have changed as the world of photography has moved from the film to the digital era. Steve also talked of his involvement in developing the style of sports photography that shows more of the context of the action, and not just close-ups of a single figure. Overall it was an interesting evening and Steve's website is well worth a look if you haven't seen it already.

It was also nice to be able to welcome ten visitors to the meeting – Jo, Wendy, Jason, Aldo, Sonya, Hannah, Karl, Clair, Pauline and Michael. We hope everyone enjoyed the evening, and we extend a special welcome to Michael who became our newest member.
