Tuesday 10th March is the first session of the Portfolio group.

A portfolio is a longer term project where the output is a series of images that have a common element to them. This element can be a style, a subject or the pictures can be used to tell a story or evoke an emotion. Portfolios are a great way to extend ourselves as photographers and artists as they will ask you to think more about what you are doing, how you can do it and why.

If this sounds like a challenge, it is. But the challenge can be as big or small as you want it to be.

The first session is an exploration of what we call a portfolio, a look at some of the portfolios from previous years and the exploration of ideas for this year. Don’t worry if you don’t have an idea for a portfolio for this is usually the hardest thing to come up with. If you don’t have an idea then it is recommended that you bring a few of your favourite recent photos to the meeting (digital or print).
