Top Shot That

This evening's guest – Sri – picked a good night to turn up. On display were more than 80 of the best images our members have offered up for competition during the year, all brought together so that the 2013 Top Shot in each of Small Prints, Large Prints and Digital could be selected. Charged with the onerous task of making this selection was our quest judge Dennis Jones. Before nominating his three finalists in each category Dennis selected a number of images to illustrate the impact of elements such as good composition or bold colour and to discuss the technical excellence evident in capturing the subject. This was the basis of some interesting discussion about all of these topics, as well as about the experience in being able to anticipate a photo opportunity or the good fortune sometimes of just being in the right place at the right time. Dennis also made a point of praising the standard of the digital images which, contrary to most of his recent judging experience, was at least equal in standard to the printed images if not better.

The three finalists selected in each are displayed below. The winners will be announce at our Christmas Dinner on 5th December.
